The formula
Four ingredients. That is the whole list.
Grass fed beef tallow, cold pressed olive oil, manuka honey, and beeswax. Tallow is close in composition to the skin's own sebum, which is why it absorbs rather than sitting on the surface, and it carries the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K. No fragrance, no preservatives, nothing to keep it stable on a shelf for three years.
Questions
Will it break me out?
It is a rich balm, so if you are acne prone, patch test along the jaw for a week before putting it on your whole face. Plenty of people with oily skin get on with tallow and plenty do not.
Is it vegan?
No. It contains beef tallow, beeswax, and honey.
Does it smell like beef?
Properly rendered tallow has a faint, neutral, slightly nutty smell that fades within minutes. If a jar ever smells strongly or sour, it has gone off, so tell us.
How should I store it?
Cool and out of direct sun. There are no preservatives in it, so heat shortens its life. It will soften or melt in a Beirut summer, which is normal, and it sets again when cool.
Can I use it on my body or on my child?
On the body, yes. For babies and young children, check with your doctor first, as you would with any new product.
Is it safe with a bee allergy?
No. It contains honey and beeswax.
