The filter
Turn it down, not off.
A filter in the stem lowers the overall level by around 27 decibels while letting speech through more evenly than solid foam. Wind and engine noise drop back, but you still hear a voice next to you and a horn behind you. Soft reusable tips in a few sizes so they seal and stay sealed.

Yes, that is the point of a filter rather than a solid plug. Everything drops in volume together, so horns, sirens, and voices stay recognisable.
Can I sleep in them?
Yes, many people do. Choose the smallest tip that still seals, since a larger one presses against the pillow.
Do they fit small ears?
Multiple tip sizes are included, so most people find one that seals.
How long do they last?
Months with regular cleaning. Replace the tips when they lose their softness or stop sealing.
