Castor oil on its own ruins the sheets.

It is thick, it is slow to sink in, and it stains cotton yellow. So people wrap themselves in cling film, or they lie still on an old towel, or they give up after four nights. There is another way to do it.

The wrap

Cotton against the skin, backing against the bed.

A soft cotton inner face holds the oil where you applied it. The outer layer keeps it off your clothes and your sheets. Ties at the front so you set the tension yourself, and it stays put whether you are reading, on the sofa, or asleep. Hand wash it and use it again.

Questions

Will this detox my liver or drain my lymph?

No. Your liver and kidneys handle that, and nothing worn on the outside of your stomach changes how they work. This is a warm, comfortable evening ritual that leaves the skin soft. That is what it is for.

Will it flatten my stomach or help with bloating?

We are not going to tell you it will. Bloating has a lot of causes, most of them dietary or digestive, and persistent bloating is worth seeing a doctor about rather than wrapping.

Can I use it while pregnant?

No. Castor oil has a long association with bringing on labour, and while that is mostly about swallowing it, this is not the place to find out. Avoid it in pregnancy and while trying to conceive.

Will it stain my sheets?

The wrap is backed to stop that, which is most of the reason it exists. The wrap itself will discolour over time.

Is castor oil safe on skin?

For most people, yes. It is a common cosmetic emollient. Patch test first, and do not use it on broken, irritated, or sunburnt skin.

How long does the oil last?

That depends on the bottle size, which we will confirm. At two or three teaspoons per use, a standard bottle covers several weeks of regular use.

How do I wash it?

Hand wash in warm soapy water, rinse, hang to dry. Do not put it in the machine and do not tumble dry it.
